Their Monthly User Charges
Ring Central advertises their service at $19.99 to $49.99 a month per user. But they add a $3 monthly per line “cost recovery fee” to your bill.
This means their $19.99 plan is really a $22.99 plan. You just went from $19.95 to more like $23 a month.
They say, “The CRF is not a tax, nor is it mandated by any level of government or government agency.” The extra $3 isn’t for the government. It goes right into their pocket.
8 x 8 charges $3.49 for each extension for a regulatory recovery fee. Nextiva charges $3.25 per user per month for “regulator recovery fees”.
Their Charges for Emergency Call Service
When you make an emergency call, emergency service has to know exactly where to find you. For your own safety, you must register a location for every phone, for example your office or your home.
Ring Central charges a “Emergency 911 Service Fee” for every user every month. 8 x 8 charges $1.99 per extension to provide 911 service. Nextiva charges $1.00 per user per month for E911 service.
This money doesn’t go to the government. This so called “Service Fee” goes right into their pocket.
We charge only $2.50 per month for every location you register.
If you have an office with 100 people, it’s $2.50 per month for the whole office. I you have a single remote phone at your home office, it’s $2.50 a month for that phone.
We don’t charge you an emergency call from any phone with a registered location.
The government charges us $85 for a call from a phone that isn’t registered. We pass that charge to you.
Don’t forget to change the registration if you move the phone to a different location, please. We’ll do it for you.
